Rose Garden is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Chandigarh. Named after India former president Zakir Hussain, this Rose garden is also known as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. As the name suggests, the park exhibits some of the rarest and exquisite varieties of roses and is said to be home to about 825 varieties of flowers.
The other major attraction of the garden is more than 32,500 varieties of trees and medicinal plants. Neatly planted in an orderly way by expert gardeners, the garden serves as a perfect place to gather around and relax. The place is a sight to behold when the flowers are in their full bloom. Rose Garden, one of the largest gardens in Asia, was established in the year 1967 under the guidance of the First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa.
A Rose Festival is organised every year in the Rose Garden at the end of February and beginning of March.
